Telford Steam Railway (TSR) is a volunteer run, registered charity providing a heritage railway service at Horsehay, Telford.
It has been many years in the making with many thousands of pounds invested by the volunteers and donations by train enthusiasts from around the country that has finally allowed TSR to extend its tracks from Horsehay through to Lawley. Further extensions to the railway heading south towards Ironbridge will continue in the future.
Having photographed TSR's Christmas Grotto with a nice donation to the TSR funds, CDHPIX was given some exclusive access to the Lawley tracks and permission to fly an aerial drone to capture some unique views of the Horsehay station site as well as the Lawley extension.
All safety precautions were taken during the visit to the railway and no commercial gain will be made by CDHPIX - this is a blog to help promote the TSR volunteers and supporters to get more people visiting this wonderful attraction.
TSR has several attractions at its premises in Horsehay, including a tramway, model railway, a miniature railway, gift shop and tearoom giving plenty to see and do on your visit.
If you want more information, including opening times, history, attractions etc. you can get in touch with TSR via their main webpage at the top of this page, or through Facebook below. Membership is a bargain (I have signed up the whole family, the value is that good!)
On with the photo's!
An aerial shot of the main station yard. To the top left, is the "Storage/Repair" building where essential maintenance is carried out on rebuilding and creating new parts for the various trains that TSR manages.
Below is another aerial view, from above the tracks
Another aerial view, giving a side-on view of the main platform and tracks
An aerial view of their weekend train (the Rocket steam train comes out once every month, check TSR's website for more details) just as it comes out of the tunnel
The TSR warning sign on their temporary platform at Lawley, Telford.
A ground-based shot of the train going into the Tunnel at Lawley on its way back to Horsehay station
A shot of the train coming around the corner into Lawley station
A nice front-view of the train approaching, loaded with passengers
Finally, an overhead view of the Lawley temporary platform and train, thats me on the platform with the remote control for the aerial drone.
You can see a JCB Digger on the right doing some ground work preparation.
